Scott Slovic on ympäristöhumanismin professori Idahon yliopistossa Yhdysvalloissa. Hän oli perustamassa Kirjallisuuden ja ympäristön tutkimisen järjestöä (Association for the Study of Literature and Environment) 1990-luvun alussa sekä toimittamassa julkaisua ISLE: Interdisciplinary Studies in Literature and Environment vuosina 1995–2020. He served as founding president of the Association for the Study of Literature and Environment in the early 1990s and edited ISLE: Interdisciplinary Studies in Literature and Environment from 1995 to 2020. His forthcoming co-edited books include Nature and Literary Studies (Cambridge UP, 2022) and The Bloomsbury Handbook to Medical-Environmental Humanities (Bloomsbury Academic, 2022).

Päivi Koponen (MA, Turun yliopisto) pohtii tutkimuksessaan sitä, miten ekologista ymmärrystä voi lähestyä kirjallisuuden opetuksessa. Keskeisenä tutkimuskäsitteenä on ympäristöpedagoginen kirjallisuuden opetus, jossa korostuvat kokemukselliset, prosessinomaiset ja vastavuoroiset lukemisen tavat. Tutkimuksen pyrkimyksenä on tuoda esimerkkejä, käytäntöjä ja teoreettista pohdintaa kirjallisuuden opetukseen siitä, miten voimme vahvistaa ympäristötoimijuuttamme lukemisen prosessissa.

^EN Päivi Koponen (MA, University of Turku) studies how ecological understanding can be utilised in teaching literature, with a central research concept being environmentally pedagogical literature teaching which emphasises experience-based, process-like, and reciprocal reading methods. The objective of the research is to examine how we can utilise the process of reading to strengthen our roles as environmental agents and implement it to literary teaching via examples, practices and theoretical considerations.

Alexa Weik von Mossner on Amerikan-tutkimuksen apulaisprofessori Klagenfurtin yliopistossa Itävallassa. Hän on tutkinut kognitiivisen narratologian, ekokritiikin sekä kirjallisuuden ja elokuvan empiiristen tutkimusten risteymiä. Hän on julkaissut seuraavat teokset: Cosmopolitan Minds: Literature, Emotion, and the Transnational Imagination (U of Texas P 2014) ja Affective Ecologies: Empathy, Emotion, and Environmental Narrative (Ohio State UP 2017).

Her research explores the intersections of cognitive narratology, ecocriticism, and empirical studies of literature and film. She is the author of Cosmopolitan Minds: Literature, Emotion, and the Transnational Imagination (U of Texas P 2014) and Affective Ecologies: Empathy, Emotion, and Environmental Narrative (Ohio State UP 2017).

Eevastiina Kinnunen (FM, Turun yliopisto) tarkastelee yleisen kirjallisuustieteen väitöskirjatutkimuksessaan luovan lukupiirityöskentelyn merkitystä kerronnalliselle hyvinvoinnille. Hän on toiminut tutkijana Suomen Akatemian rahoittamissa Välineelliset kertomukset: tarinankerronnan rajat ja aikalaiskriittinen kertomusteoria sekä Pohjoisen muuttuva ympäristö̈: Kulttuuriset representaatiot ja veden käyttötavat -hankkeissa. Lisäksi hän työskentelee kirjallisuusterapia- ja sanataideohjaajana.

^EN Eevastiina Kinnunen (MA, University of Turku) is writing her doctoral dissertation in literary research on the significance of creative reading groups for narrative well-being. She has worked as a researcher in the projects Instrumental Narratives: The Limits of Storytelling and New Story-Critical Narrative Theory and The Changing Environment of the North: Cultural Representations and Uses of Water funded by the Academy of Finland. She also works as a bibliotherapy facilitator and creative writing instructor.

Matthew Schneider-Mayerson työskentelee ympäristötutkimuksen apulaisprofessorina Yale-NUS yliopistossa sekä englanninkielisen kielen ja kirjallisuuden laitoksella Singaporen kansallisessa yliopistossa. Hän yhdistelee kirjallisuudentutkimusta, kulttuurintutkimusta ja sosiologiaa ja tutkii ilmastonmuutoksen kulttuurisia ja poliittisia ulottuvuuksia kohteenaan erityisesti ilmasto-oikeus, ilmastofiktio, ekotooppiset visiot ja ilmaston uusiutumista koskevat kysymykset. ^EN Matthew Schneider-Mayerson is Associate Professor of Environmental Studies at Yale-NUS College and an affiliate in the Department of English Language and Literature at the National University of Singapore. His research combines literary criticism, cultural studies, and sociology to examine the intertwined cultural and political dimensions of climate change, with a focus on climate justice, climate fiction, ecotopian visions, and reproductive climate concerns. One of the founders of empirical ecocriticism, he is the author of Peak Oil: Apocalyptic Environmentalism and Libertarian Political Culture (University of Chicago Press, 2015), a co-editor of An Ecotopian Lexicon (University of Minnesota Press, 2019), and editor of Eating Chilli Crab in the Anthropocene: Environmental Perspectives on Life in Singapore (Ethos Books, 2020).
